| About Blue Mire |

BLUE MIRE was formed in 2005 in San Francisco, CA, by singer-songwriters Cory Dale and Marci Wilder. They met at a popular open mic and, as an acoustic duo, preceeded to tour the Bay Area’s vibrant coffee shop scene for the next several months, impressing audience after audience with unrehearsed harmonies that blended so naturally it would seem the pair had been singing together their entire lives. When Blue Mire received a booking from The Cherry Bar, a now-defunct club known for showcasing metal and hard rock bands, the songwriters decided to alter their rootsy, acoustic sound. Marci traded in her acoustic guitar for a drum kit, and the duo quickly composed and arranged a collection of songs they like to call “garagefolk” music. The louder, rowdier version of the band was well-received, and Blue Mire promptly became a fixture in SF rock clubs, appearing on stage over 200 times in their first year together.
In 2006 , Blue Mire released their debut record, “Stuck in the Mire.” Intended to define their garagefolk sound, the 10-song LP was recorded almost entirely in one take, featuring only acoustic guitar, drums, and vocals. The record was never submitted to a label, reviewed, or played on the radio, yet, through incessant touring, the band managed to sell all of the 1,000 copies they had made. At this time, Blue Mire does not intend to do a second pressing.
For their second record, Marci and Cory decided to make a more traditional rock album, and enlisted Gavin Jones on bass, and Mike Saliani on guitar. Recording sessions began in the winter of 2006, and proceeded throughout 2007. They expect to release the 13-song LP, tentatively entitled “IOP,” in the next month or two.
In the summer of 2008, the duo left San Francisco, and relocated 3,000 miles away in Portland, Maine. The high cost of living in San Francisco was becoming increasingly difficult for the pair, who are not fond of working “day jobs,” leaving them somewhat paralized as a band, typically unable to afford studio time, equipment, or touring. In addition to more affordable rent, they hope their new surroundings will likewise inspire their songwriting, and perhaps influence a new direction with their music. After all, Maine is 90 percent forest, where trees outnumber people. Blue Mire hopes to begin recording another album this fall, as soon as they find the right engineer. . .
